Where to go in Hong Kong for Christmas markets
Growing up in UK, I was blessed with the annual
Christmas markets coming to my area where I can experience the magic of
Christmas, taste it, smell it and literally touch it. Some of you may be
wondering what on earth is a Christmas market? Well simply put, its where
stalls are set up in a cluster selling goods and food related (but not
necessarily) Christmas.
Below you will find a list of places in Hong Kong which will feature a
Christmas themed market.
Discovery Bay normally hosts a monthly
Sunday market where independent business owners sell their finest wares. The
best part is? It’s a pet friendly open market.
Date: Sunday, 7 and Sunday, 21 November; Sunday, 12 and Sunday, 19
December, 11am to 6pm
This year Quarry Bay will transform Tong Chong
Street into a magical wonderland where children (and adults!) can custom make
their own gifts, this is an ideal choice for those looking to gift a special
someone something more from the heart. The cherry on top for this is that proceeds
from this event will be donated to Operation Santa Claus which supports several
local charities.
Date: Thursday, 2 and Friday, 3 December, 12pm to 8pm; Saturday, 4 and Sunday,
5 December, 1pm to7pm
For a few years running Stanley has been hosting
its own Christmas market where there are European style food and a fine
selection of handmade crafts and accessories. Another great pet friendly place.
Date: Saturday, 11 and Sunday 12, December; Saturday 18 and Sunday,
19 December; Friday 24 to Monday, 27 December, 12pm to 8pm
If you are looking for something that’s
different from the others this Christmas then the Shangri-La Christmas market
is for you. Featuring limited edition items and stunning snow globes, feel
extra good this year since the proceeds here will be donated to Heep Hong
Society – a charity to help children.
Date: Sunday 19th November – Sunday 26th December
This one may be new for you, it certainly is for
me, but the festive spirits have made its way to New Town plaza in Sha tin.
Which features homemade food from jams, chocolate treats to baked goods. This
sounds like the perfect place to get gifts for friends and colleagues.
Date: Until 2 January 2022
Next up is festive meals?
Often, I find myself trying to explain to my colleagues what makes a meal festive, the decorations? The turkey? Or maybe the people share the meal with. Well, a quick google search shows us that it is essentially the same, with variations on how side dishes are made and perhaps where on Christmas the main dish is normally a turkey where as the main meat dish in thanksgiving could vary.
First up on our list for festive meals is The Murray.
When I first started writing this section I wasn’t sure how to add all the different
festive meals but that’s not a problem when I found this place since there are
several restaurants at The Murray and they all feature Lunch, Afternoon tea,
dinner, brunch, barbecue night! And even Christmas for our furry little
friends.
With such a line up its head to beat and for I’m all down for the barbecue.
Their slogan is Christmas everyday and they are really making it happen.

Date: From the 1st of December
until the start of January
Next up is the Grand Hyatt with their festive
dining
There is not a lot of information regarding this
dining event ither the times and date
Date: 24-27, 31 Dec and 1-2 Jan
For the time being these two are the only
available places with Christmas dinner bookings available.
Christmas deals
When I think about Christmas and the countdown
advent calendars come to mind. These are large calendars only for the month
December and each day you can open a ‘door’ corresponding to that day and
inside is a piece of gorgeous chocolate waiting for you.
There are many more options for Christmas
including this range from Peninsula:

But what is you’re all out of ideas on what to
get for your family and friends? Afterall they may have already had their
birthdays or anniversaries already.
Don’t you worry, because Spot On Dealz has a
special gift guide that’s going to be your answer to this years gift giving
conundrum. Rather than compete with existing typical guides ‘for him’ and ‘for
her’ our guide it for character types rather than their role.
